This summer's Premier League and EFL transfer window will close at 11pm on one September, reversing the recent earlier cut-off. The reversion is unlikely to please some supporters.
ExpressAndStar.com reports that the seven pm deadline used in summer 2025 and January 2026, introduced with the FA to support more typical working patterns, will be scrapped. It had been welcomed by supporters at the time.
A two-hour grace period will apply after 11pm if paperwork is lodged on time. No reason has been confirmed for the switch back ahead of this deadline, although last summer’s change was explained.
The window opens on 15 June. Albion and Wolves are set for busy summers, with Aston Villa looking to add before their Champions League return. For new Walsall boss Lee Grant, it is set to be a hectic window as he looks to put his stamp on things at the Bescot.
Clubs hope to do early business, but a summer World Cup will no doubt affect the market. Even so, deals often run to the deadline.
In Spain, the window closes at 10.59pm on one September. In Germany, the Bundesliga shuts at seven pm on 31 August.
