FC Bayern are working flat out on their attack for the coming season, and according to the latest reports, two prominent names could land in Munich at the same time

It is now an open secret that the Munich side are looking to add to their attacking ranks, with Max Eberl and Christoph Freund seeing a need for action on the left flank in particular

Anthony Gordon from Newcastle United is still regarded as the absolute ideal solution

According to the English media, the 25-year-old has already given FC Bayern his agreement in principle for a transfer. However, a complicated transfer poker with Newcastle is now looming

The Magpies are reportedly demanding almost 90 million euros for the England international – far too much from Bayern’s point of view. Internally, Munich’s financial pain threshold is said to be around 60 million euros

Bayern are therefore apparently looking at other options at the same time

De Ketelaere remains an issue

Most recently, Charles De Ketelaere in particular has been heavily linked with the record champions. The Belgian from Atalanta Bergamo was initially seen as a cheaper alternative to Gordon

However, transfer insider Sacha Tavolieri now paints a different picture, stating that Bayern see De Ketelaere less as a classic left winger and more as a flexible offensive solution and potential backup for Harry Kane in the center of attack

In fact, this profile fits De Ketelaere’s role at Bergamo perfectly. The 25-year-old is predominantly deployed centrally at Atalanta – either as an attacking midfielder, a hanging midfielder or occasionally even as a center forward

His versatility in particular makes him interesting for top clubs

It is interesting to note that Anthony Gordon has also recently played more often centrally in attack at Newcastle, although his actual regular position remains on the left flank

Double strike probably difficult to finance

According to Tavolieri, it is therefore not impossible that Bayern could theoretically sign both players. However, this scenario hardly seems realistic at present

The transfer fees alone would probably reach the 100-million-euro mark, and there would also be high salaries – and this is precisely where Munich are currently paying particularly close attention to their financial guard rails

The Supervisory Board continues to pursue the goal of reducing salary costs in the long term and only making major investments in a very targeted manner

Therefore, there are currently many indications that Bayern will strengthen their attack – but a spectacular double strike with Gordon and De Ketelaere would be rather difficult to implement.
