Transfer freeze at FC Bayern: He’s the first casualty | OneFootball

Gabriel Bontempo has recently been linked with FC Bayern. Several media outlets even reported on a possible offer from the Munich club for the FC Santos midfielder. According to BILD soccer editor Christian Falk, however, this is not true. The record champions are currently pursuing a different transfer strategy.

The 20-year-old Brazilian is considered one of his country’s greatest midfield talents and has attracted the interest of numerous European clubs. A move to FC Bayern, however, does not appear to be a realistic scenario at this time.

As Christian Falk reports, FC Bayern has no plans to make a move for Gabriel Bontempo this summer. The BILD soccer editor could not confirm reports of an offer that had allegedly already been made.

The main reason lies in the Munich club’s current squad planning. The central midfield is already very well-stocked, which is why there is currently no additional need for a player in that position.

This assessment aligns with recent statements by sporting director Max Eberl. The 52-year-old has repeatedly emphasized that FC Bayern’s transfer activity on the incoming side is complete. Following the signings of Nathaniel Brown and Ismael Saibari, no further new signings are planned.

Sales Are the Focus

Instead, the club’s management is clearly focusing on player departures. Hiroki Ito could leave the club if a suitable offer comes in. Following Brown’s signing, Bayern now has sufficient options on the left side of the defense.

In addition, the Munich club has already publicly named the players it intends to sell. Bryan Zaragoza, Sacha Boey, and João Palhinha no longer have a place in Vincent Kompany’s plans and are expected to leave the club this summer if possible.

At the same time, FC Bayern is working on integrating additional young talent. Bara Ndiaye is expected to be signed on a permanent basis shortly. The Senegalese player is set to earn a spot on the first-team roster and is viewed internally as a promising prospect for the future.

Against this backdrop, a transfer of Bontempo currently seems extremely unlikely. Only once there is significant movement on the outgoing front might Bayern reconsider its transfer strategy. At present, however, all signs point to Munich ending the summer without any further high-profile signings.
