Premier League clubs working hard in final days of January window

The January window is primed for a thrilling finale as the Premier League’s biggest teams step up attempts to sign, and sell, players. The biggest news is Arsenal seeing a bid for Ollie Watkins rejected, though a second one is being prepped with the Gunners confident of landing the striker. Jhon Duran's expected move to Al Nassr complicates matters, though, with the striker set for a medical today.
The biggest target elsewhere is Mathys Tel, who appeared to bid goodbye to Bayern Munich fans on teh pitch last night and is the subject of a bidding war involving Manchester United, Tottenham, Chelsea and, potentially Arsenal. Spurs have also been linked with Yoane Wissa, Noah Okafor, Tyler Dibling and Angel Gomes.
United are set to finalise a £31.5m deal for Patick Dorgu and continue to also be linked with Christopher Nkunku with Marcus Rashford in talks to join Barcelona and Alejandro Garnacho of interest to Chelsea. A representative for Tottenham was in Munich on Wednesday night as the club push to sign Mathys Tel on a permanent transfer.
Fabrizio Romano reports that Spurs are ready to spend big on the teenager to land him, with Chelsea also keen but Manchester United only open to a loan.

The Gunners have had a bid rejected for Ollie Watkins and it’s reported that Mathys Tel has also emerged as a target, with the Bayern Munich winger available on loan.
The Mirror report that Athletic Bilbao's Nico Williams and Bournemouth's Antoine Semenyo remain two key targets for Arsenal, but moves for either would have to wait until the summer.

The package was worth £20.9million but PSV have turned the offer down.
However, West Ham have signed highly rated 17-year-old forward Josh Landers from Hibernian.

A huge deal is brewing in Germany as RB Leipzig close in on €80million (£67m) deal for Xavi Simons.
An opening bid has been rejected by Paris Saint-Germain, but there is an expectation that an agreement will be struck in the final days of the window.
Simons is currently on loan at Leipzig and has impressed, prompting the club to make the move permanent ahead of the end of the loan spell in the summer.

Manchester City are believed to be interested in the Aston Villa midfielder, but would prefer to take him on loan.
However, La Gazzetta dello Sport report that Juventus will not accept that, and have now informed City of their valuation.

Nuri Sahin was sacked earlier in January.
Kovac has signed an 18-month contract and will officially take charge next Sunday after the club’s Bundesliga match against Heidenheim.

Manchester United are waiting on movement on Marcus Rashford before advancing with their interest in Mathys Tel, opening the door for Tottenham and Chelsea.
According to The Athletic’s David Ornstein, United would only be interested in a loan move for the Bayern teenager at this moment.
With Antony out the door, Rashford in talks with Barcelona and ongoing uncertainty over Alejandro Garnacho’s future, there is an expectation that United will firm up their interest soon.

Another twist in the Victor Boniface tale.
According to The Telegraph, Bayer Leverkusen have agreed to sign Evan Ferguson on loan from Brighton as Boniface’s replacement... but with the latter now not heading to Saudi, the former deal is in the balance.
Bayer still want to sign Ferguson and could now start offering Boniface out in the final days of the window.
West Ham had hoped to sign Ferguson, who they will no doubt be monitoring the situation.

Bayern Munich are keen on Southampton winger Tyler Dibling.
The 18-year-old has caught the end in a struggling Saints side, and Tottenham are understood to have Dibling as a top target, either in January or the summer.
However, The Sun report that both Bayern and Borussia Dortmund have now entered the race, complicating the matters for Spurs.

Al Nassr have ended their pursuit of Bayer Leverkusen’s Victor Boniface as they prepare to sign Jhon Duran from Aston Villa.
Boniface was reportedly all set to move to the Saudi side, with a plane on standby to fly him out for medical tests.
But Al Nassr were negotiating for Duran at the same time and had a bid accepted by Villa last night.
Bayer director Rolfes said: “There have been talks, but we are happy that he will be training with us today. I assume that he will stay”.
“He feels comfortable here, his attitude towards the club is unchanged.”
