Transfer: Sékou Koné celebrates his first professional contract

After lengthy negotiations, the Malian Olympique Yelen academy and New York Red Bulls have finally reached an agreement regarding Sékou Koné. The young player has signed his first professional contract with the Major League Soccer (MLS) side.

The 18-year-old Malian talent, Sékou Koné, has inked a one-year loan deal with an option to buy at New York Red Bulls.

After taking this important step, the young defensive midfielder expressed his delight in a statement to Africa Foot: "I am very happy to sign with New York Red Bulls. As you know, this is the first contract I’ve signed in my career, so it’s only natural that I’m extremely pleased to complete this move."

Sékou Koné is expected to kick off his journey in the MLS Next league before joining the first team and competing at the highest level in American soccer.
