"Ryan has been very unlucky over the last couple of seasons as injuries have cut short his loans at Exeter and Wigan," said director of football Phil Giles.
"Without those injuries, I’m sure Ryan would have been much closer to the first team at Brentford, as he is a very talented player with a fantastic attitude. Now is the right time for him to find a new permanent club and start to develop his career from there, and I’ve no doubt once he gets playing regularly, he will have a long career at a very good level.
"Ryan will remain with us for the foreseeable future while he completes his rehabilitation, but when the time is right, he’ll move on and leave with our thanks and good wishes."

Part of the side that won the London Senior Cup for the first time since 1897/98 in April 2022, Trevitt made his Bees debut as a second-half substitute that August in a 2-0 Carabao Cup victory at Colchester United.
He also came off the bench in an FA Cup tie at home to West Ham United in 2022/23 before scoring as Brentford B defeated Blackburn Rovers Under-21s 2-1 at Gtech Community Stadium to lift the Premier League Cup at the end of that year.
Trevitt was named Brentford B Player of the Year and, that July, was awarded a new three-year contact, simultaneously agreeing to join Exeter City on loan for the 2023/24 Sky Bet League One campaign.
He impressed in the first half of the season for the Grecians, scoring five goals in 23 appearances, before seeing his year prematurely ended by a serious ankle injury.
The midfielder returned to the west Londoners that summer and started in Carabao Cup wins against Colchester and Leyton Orient before making his Premier League debut as a late substitute against Tottenham Hotspur in September 2024.
He rejoined Exeter for the second half of that campaign but suffered another injury at St James Park, which saw him play just 12 times.
Trevitt then moved to Wigan Athletic, also of League One, for the duration of the 2025/26 season and made 14 appearances.
Brentford can also confirm that Reiss Nelson has returned to Arsenal following the conclusion of his season-long loan.
The 26-year-old forward made 14 appearances during his time in TW8, netting in October’s 5-0 Carabao Cup victory against Grimsby Town.
On Nelson, Giles added: "Reiss came at the end of last summer’s transfer window having not played significant minutes since December 2024 while on loan at Fulham.
"Whilst I’m sure he would’ve preferred more Premier League minutes with us during the loan, he has nevertheless made a good contribution with his positivity, attitude and experience around training and matchdays, and leaves us in a better place physically then when he joined.
"On behalf of everyone at Brentford, I’d like to thank Reiss for his contribution to a good season for the club, and wish him well in everything he goes on to in the future."

Frank Onyeka's loan deal at Coventry City included an option for the Sky Blues to purchase him upon promotion to the Premier League. The club will provide a further update in the coming weeks once the transfer window has opened.
Benjamin Arthur (Celtic), Ethan Brierley (Exeter), Matt Cox (Shrewsbury Town), Benjamin Fredrick (FCV Dender), Ji-soo Kim (Kaiserslautern), Ben Krauhaus (Bromley), Yunus Emre Konak (Oxford United), Jayden Meghoma (Rangers), Iwan Morgan (Shrewsbury), Gustavo Nunes (Swansea City), Michael Olakigbe (Swindon Town) and Tony Yogane (Dundee) have all returned to Brentford following their respective loan spells.
