The English full-back made 21 appearances and registered one assist in his final season at St. James’ Park, and was the Magpies’ vice-captain until his departure.

Trippier was a more prominent part of the side that lifted the Carabao Cup in 2025, the club’s first trophy in 70 years, and has also represented England 54 times and reached a World Cup semi-final against Croatia in 2018.

In a post published to social media on Monday, Trippier shared his happiness to join the second tier side and open a new chapter in his career that has also seen him represent Atlético Madrid, Tottenham, and Burnley.

He said: “I am delighted to join Wolves, a new chapter and one I’m ready for.

“I’m looking forward to working with the team, and giving my all on the pitch. I can’t wait to meet the fans and play at Molineux.”

The signing represents the shrewder, more intelligent kind of profile that Wanderers must build on if they are to meet expectations and return to the top flight at the first time of asking in their 150th anniversary season.

Wolves executive chairman Nathan Shi said: “Throughout his career, Kieran has performed at the very highest level, so we are delighted he has chosen Wolves for the next chapter of his journey.

“His leadership attributes are second to none, and he also possesses an innate will to win, while his experiences in the Premier League, Champions League and on the international stage will be invaluable.

“We know the challenge ahead of us in the Championship, but Kieran’s signing shows just how ambitious we want to be. We are excited to see him add his professionalism, character and exceptionally high standards to the squad and help drive the football club forward.”

Trippier brings vast experience from playing at the elite level, and has the ability to make his mark on the Championship as one of its standout performers for Rob Edward’s side as he prepares to begin the rebuild in the Midlands.

Who will Wolves sign next?

There is evidently more to be done on the transfer front for Wolves, whose next signing could also be on a free.

Former striker Raul Jiménez was let go by London side Fulham after the club decided not to offer him a renewed contract, opting to focus their resources on key assets such as Welsh international Harry Wilson.

Wolves are rumoured to be targeting a move to bring the Mexican back to Molineux, where he scored 57 goals in 166 appearances since arriving on loan from Benfica in 2018 following their last Championship title win.
