Tsimikas discusses similarities between Roma and Liverpool: “Both are the strongest teams in their city.” | OneFootball

In a recent interview with Portuguese newspaper A Bola, Roma left-back Kostas Tsimikas said he greatly misses his former teammate Diogo Jota, who tragically died in a car accident in the summer.

“It’s very difficult. When I think of Diogo, I always feel pain. He was a special person, a really good guy, and we spent a lot of time together.”

The Greek player then concluded: “I think it’s the same for everyone who played with him: we miss him so much. He was a very important person for me because we arrived at Liverpool together and shared so many things. When we went out at night or on team trips, he was always by my side. We had fun together. Now I try to keep only the positive things. We have to live life… And even if it’s painful in this situation, we must never stop thinking about him. He’s always with us and in our hearts.”

The former Liverpool player gave another interview, this time to the English tabloid The Athletic, and discussed the similarities between Liverpool and Roma: “They’re two similar clubs. One has Everton, the other Lazio… but both are the strongest teams in the city. The spirit is also similar, and that’s one of the things that led me to accept the Giallorossi’s offer.”

Tsimikas added: “Both teams are fighting for the title, the fans are crazy. In Rome, everyone lives and breathes Roma. Being here right now is the best choice I could have made for my career.”

Finally, he commented on a possible return to the Reds: “I miss Liverpool so much, I spent five years there and I will always be the ‘Greek Scouser’.”
