Viktor Tsygankov did not feature after being named in Girona’s squad for their LaLiga Hypermotion opener against Leganés, adding to uncertainty over his future.

According to Superdeporte, Girona, newly relegated to the second tier, are handling strong interest in key players. Talks with Valencia over Arnau Martínez remain open, yet the right-back started against Leganés.

Head coach Quique Álvarez said Tsygankov was fine and had been selected, but chose not to get changed, adding that he would not say more.

The Ukrainian winger is viewed as a strong option for clubs within LaLiga and abroad, and has recently been linked with possible interest from Celta Vigo.

He has more than 100 LaLiga appearances and a further 50 across the Champions League and Europa League. Last season he played 34 times for Girona, scoring seven and assisting five.

Tsygankov is valued at 15 million euros and his contract runs until 2027, although his salary is considered prohibitive for many LaLiga sides.
