Thomas Tuchel has confirmed that Reece James will miss England’s final World Cup group game but says everybody else is available.

The Three Lions take on Panama in New Jersey, hoping to bounce back from a disappointing goalless draw with Ghana.

As well as James’ absence, it had been reported that Elliot Anderson would also miss out on the game due to a glute injury. There have also been concerns surrounding the fitness of Arsenal duo Declan Rice and Bukayo Saka.“He has a minor hamstring injury,” Tuchel confirmed of James. “He was not able to train the last two days.

“He’s on an accelerated rehab programme. We will take it game by game but we strongly believe that he will be available for us again in the tournament.

“No-one could see that coming, Reece felt good and was in good shape. We would love to have Reece, he’s a good player and we will look for solutions. That’s what we do.”

The German coach also revealed that the Chelsea right-back has not travelled with the squad for the Panama clash.

The England boss continued: “Declan Rice and Elliot Anderson trained with us today.

“They had minor issues after the game but everyone is available for us apart from Reece James. We will take a decision tomorrow.”

Anderson, Rice and Saka were all spotted in training earlier today and, contrary to speculation, should be fit to play tomorrow. Offering further detail on Saka, Tuchel added: “He’s now fully free of discomfort and is ready to go.

“He’s ready to start like Noni and Anthony and Marcus. We have a lot of options.”

Midfielder Anderson has also been the centre of attention in the past 24 hours due to a blockbuster move that is advancing. The 23-year-old is set to leave Nottingham Forest and join Manchester City for a club-record transfer fee.

“The reality is that transfers are going on and big transfers take their time,” commented Tuchel. “We understand things are going on. We will facilitate the transfer but after the match, not before.”
