How much Turki Alalshikh is reportedly worth, following rumours that he may be open to taking over Derby County
Saudi boxing promoter Turki Alalshikh is once again in the takeover rumour mill in the Championship, after a following spree on his X account linked him with Derby County.
Alalshikh was found to be following numerous Rams pages on social media, such as the official supporters club, the ticket office, some unofficial news pages and, above all, the official club account.
This comes a year after the mastermind behind numerous boxing bouts taking place in Saudi Arabia was being talked up to take over several other Championship sides. The Daily Mail linked him with Millwall, while TalkSPORT's Simon Jordan stated that he was interested in buying Southampton.
Above all, though, were the reports linking him with a purchase of Bristol City, reports that the Robins CEO confirmed to be true, as the Ashton Gate-based club held talks with Alalshikh over the summer over potential investment.
He denied a potential purchase at Bristol City on his X account last September, but with the offseason close by, rumours are once again swirling about one of the most powerful men in sport over in Saudi Arabia getting involved in buying a Championship club.

Turki Alalshikh is a Saudi Arabian government official and the chairman of the General Entertainment Authority, a governmental department in the kingdom.
He's been the man behind the boxing boom in Saudi Arabia over the last three years, with the likes of Oleksandr Usyk, Tyson Fury and Anthony Joshua all having fights in the country recently.
But it's not just boxing that he's championed in Saudi Arabia, with the Riyadh Season hosting the likes of the Six Kings Slam in tennis, the WWE Royal Rumble, a darts masters, and Italian and Spanish football cup finals in the past few years, just to name a few.
In 2024, CEO Today reported that Alalshikh's net worth was $2.8 billion, with these figures representing the latest reports surrounding the Saudi billionaire's wealth.
It has likely grown in the past two years, too, with the aforementioned events that have been held in Saudi Arabia, plus the new Zuffa Boxing promotion that he founded alongside UFC President Dana White earlier this year.
So, his wealth would be a big boost to any Championship club looking to progress from being a side on the periphery of the play-offs to one challenging for automatic promotion to the Premier League, and you'd imagine that any investment from him could help Derby in that pursuit.

There have been murmurs about a Derby takeover, or at least new investors coming to support David Clowes, ever since the Rams owner outlined that new investment would be needed to help the club reach the next level back in 2024.
The lifelong Derby fan saved the club from going bust back in 2022, stating that the club were just a week out from being liquidated after spending the better part of nine months in administration following Mel Morris' departure.
Evidently, his involvement was a last resort, and a potential complete sale has reportedly been mooted, too.
One thing that is for certain, though, is that Clowes won't just give up his club to the first bidder, and that he will be ensuring that Derby won't fall into similar financial turmoil that they were in before he intervened at the last moment.
If Turki Alalshikh does take over at Pride Park, then it'll be for the right reasons; otherwise, the current owner will likely keep a hold of his majority stake until a better suitor comes in.
So, if the Saudi billionaire is said to be the right person, Derby could be in for some major investment en route to a promotion challenge in the Championship.
