Tuttosport: Next week crucial as Furlani resumes director interviews – the No.1 candidate | OneFootball

After having been in Dubai in recent days for some commercial meetings, CEO Giorgio Furlani is about to accelerate AC Milan’s pursuit of a new sporting director.

As Tuttosport (via MilanNews) write this morning, Milan have not had a proper sporting director by role since the farewells of Paolo Maldini and Frederic Massara, in essence someone capable of providing support to the team and coach every day at Milanello.

In the past few weeks Gerry Cardinale and Zlatan Ibrahimovic have already had meetings in London with some potential candidates, but now the matter has passed into the hands of Furlani who – from the beginning of next week – will resume contacts with candidates.

At the moment, there are three profiles in the front row: Fabio Paratici, Igli Tare and Tony D’Amico. The first two are currently ‘free agents’, while the latter is at Atalanta and therefore would have to free himself from his contract.

However, surprises and other candidacies that could arrive in particular from abroad cannot be ruled out. For example, La Gazzetta dello Sport linked Bayer Leverkusen director Kim Falkenberg yesterday as part of a five-man list.

For now the favorite is Paratici, despite the suspension he received at the beginning of 2023 for the Juventus capital gains case that will keep him out until July. Things could also change, everything will depend on the face to face that the various candidates will have with Furlani in the coming weeks.

This is an important choice, indeed fundamental for the future of Milan, also because it will be the new director who will choose the new coach, another choice that the Rossoneri absolutely cannot get wrong.
