Leeds United face a pivotal summer after finishing 14th on their Premier League return, with attacking upgrades the priority as the window opens tomorrow.

According to yorkshireeveningpost.co.uk, chairman Paraag Marathe has raised the bar for incomings, favouring fewer but difference-making signings, and Daniel Farke’s forward unit could change significantly.

Dominic Calvert-Lewin is an easy keep after a free transfer masterstroke, his 14 goals underlining his value, though added competition is required.

Lukas Nmecha, another free, contributed six league goals and is worth retaining as a potential third-choice despite some hold-up difficulties.

Joel Piroe did not start a league game after August and failed to score, so a sale looks sensible and might fetch £10-15m.

Teenage striker Harry Gray, 17, impressed at Rotherham and needs senior minutes, so another loan, ideally at top-end League One or bottom Championship, would suit.

Mateo Joseph’s Mallorca loan ended with an ACL injury, rehab continues at Leeds and a January move could follow if fitness allows.

A top-level striker is the marquee need. Jorgen Strand Larsen is cited only as a recent placeholder target, and the club were ready to commit close to £40m in January, so a similar outlay may be required now.
