Outside of first-team players that Manchester City must sell this summer, there are also many young players who could spend the 25/26 season away from the club. In some cases, players will be looking to spend next season on loan to further their development. For others, they will be sold to help them take the next step in their careers. Two players who fall into that category are young Manchester City defenders Max Alleyne and Callum Doyle.
Now a new report has outlined what is likely in store for both players. Both young defenders are expected to leave City at some point this summer. Max Alleyne is expected to go out on loan for the 25/26 season. Callum Doyle is likely to be sold after spending a significant time out on loan in recent years.
Jordan Campbell reports for The Athletic that Max Alleyne is expected to go out on loan next season. The impressive young defender has served his apprenticeship in Manchester City’s youth system. A loan move is the logical next step in his career. Furthermore, Jordan Campbell reports that it is likely that Max Alleyne will sign a contract extension before heading out on loan for the 25/26 season.
Max Alleyne impressed for Manchester City’s Elite Development System (EDS) side last season. His strong performances saw him named City’s EDS Player of the Season for his efforts. But looking at what would aid his development it is time for Alleyne to go out on loan. A loan spell to a club in the Championship may be the ideal move for Alleyne. That way he can play at a high level and play against seasoned professionals. Jordan Campbell also reports that Max Alleyne’s goal is to push for a place in the City first team in the future. A loan spell in the Championship may aid his cause.
Jordan Campbell has also provided an update on Callum Doyle’s future. Furthermore, Campbell reports that Doyle and Manchester City have agreed that the young defender is likely to be sold this summer. As per Jordan Campbell’s update, Callum Doyle’s path to the City first team is currently blocked. Lastly, Campbell reports that City could sell Doyle for up to £10 million.
It is no surprise to learn that Callum Doyle is likely to be sold by Manchester City this summer. In recent seasons Doyle has spent time on loan at Sunderland, Coventry City, Leicester City and Norwich City. At 21 years of age, Doyle would be well served by hopefully finding a move to a club in the Premier League or in one of Europe’s bigger leagues. He has the talent to make it as a quality defender at the highest level. Unfortunately, he won’t get that opportunity at City. A summer transfer is the best move for Doyle’s young career, and given his quality and potential, that should come at some point this summer.
