Manchester City had two players miss their 3-0 win over Brentford on Saturday due to injury. Rodri missed his fourth consecutive match due to a groin injury. Abdukodir Khusanov didn’t play after picking up a knock in City’s 3-3 draw with Everton at the Hill Dickinson Stadium last Monday. Up next for Pep Guardiola’s side is yet another must-win Premier League match against Crystal Palace at the Etihad Stadium on Wednesday night. Rodri and Khusanov’s availability for the match remains in doubt at this stage.
Sam Lee reported for The Athletic following Manchester City’s win over Brentford, that Rodri has missed City’s past four matches due to a groin injury. As per Sam Lee’s report, the injury sustained by Rodri in Manchester City’s 2-1 win over Arsenal was more complicated than initially thought. Lee reports that Rodri is now back in training and should play again this season as Manchester City chase a domestic treble.
Simon Bajkowski reported for the Manchester Evening News that Abdukodir Khusanov missed City’s crucial win over Brentford due to ‘a knock in a painful area’. Nathan Ake replaced Khusanov in the City starting lineup against Brentford and performed superbly well on Saturday. It is hoped that Khusanov’s injury isn’t serious as Manchester City need his pace and strength at the back.
The fitness of Rodri and Abdukodir Khusanov is the only injury concern that Manchester City has ahead of their clash with Crystal Palace. Josko Gvardiol and Ruben Dias are both back in training, so Pep Guardiola has a plethora of options to select for a game his team has to win on Wednesday night. It is hoped that Rodri and Abdukodir Khusanov are available for Wednesday night’s match to give Pep Guardiola a full squad to choose from. It would also give Guardiola more options to choose from, given that City has the FA Cup final on Saturday against Chelsea, and if Guardiola can rotate his squad against Crystal Palace, it may aid City’s bid to beat Chelsea at Wembley.
Manchester City appear to have two players under an injury cloud in Rodri and Abdukodir Khusanov ahead of their clash with Crystal Palace. A further update on their condition should arrive when Pep Guardiola faces the media later today.
