Tyler Bindon creates World Cup’s first mother-son duo, 15 years after Jenny Bindon

Tyler Bindon came on for New Zealand against Iran in a 2-2 draw, securing a slice of World Cup history as part of the first mother-son duo. As reported by L'Équipe, the centre-back featured late on to seal the milestone.
The sides shared the points in their opening match of the tournament, and Bindon was introduced in the 92nd minute for the All Whites.
His mother, Jenny Bindon, was a New Zealand goalkeeper who played at the 2007 and 2011 World Cups and won 77 caps.
She also represented her country at the 2008 and 2012 Olympic Games, and is now assistant coach of London City Lionesses.
Bindon, who plays for Nottingham Forest, made his senior international debut in 2023 and earned his 23rd cap against Iran.
