Here are two African legends who made their mark at the U20 World Cup.
The former Barcelona star was named best player of the 1999 U20 World Cup, which took place in Nigeria. The now-retired midfielder led his country, Mali, to a third-place finish in the tournament.

The man with 120 caps for the Black Stars was instrumental in Ghana's triumph at the 2009 U20 World Cup. The son of Abedi Pelé featured in all 7 matches of the tournament, notching up 2 goals and 3 assists.
