UEFA eases suspensions in European competitions, four yellows now trigger a ban | OneFootball

UEFA said in a statement on Tuesday that suspension rules in the Champions League, Europa League and Europa Conference have been relaxed, with a ban now imposed after four yellow cards rather than three.

Subsequent suspension thresholds have also been raised, now arriving at the sixth and eighth cautions instead of the fifth and seventh.

The change follows the new competition format, which has altered the balance between match volume and cautions and had disproportionately increased the risk of bans through accumulation.

The group phase now features eight matches instead of six, alongside the addition of a round of 32.

The adjustment is intended to restore the original balance during the expanded group stage.
