UEFA sanction CSKA Sofia over Nazi salutes and violence in Europa League tie | OneFootball

UEFA confirmed on Tuesday that CSKA Sofia have been fined 50,000 euros and barred from selling away tickets. The punishment follows Nazi salutes and violent behaviour by their supporters during a Europa League qualifier in Northern Ireland.

The incidents took place on 16 July in the second leg of the first qualifying round against Derry City, delaying kick-off by 15 minutes. CSKA won 2-1.

The ticket ban applies to their next away match in the second qualifying round at Qarabag in Azerbaijan, imposed for object throwing, vandalism and public disorder.

An additional one-match away ticket ban has been suspended for two years, linked to racist or discriminatory conduct arising from the Nazi salutes. Videos on social media showed a supporter making a Nazi salute, while Derry fans unfurled an anti-fascist banner. Some home supporters, including children, entered the pitch to seek safety.

A club official was fined 5,000 euros for breaching basic rules of conduct, and CSKA must compensate Derry City for stadium damage.

Derry City were fined 20,000 euros for disorder by their own supporters, including a pitch invasion. Eliminated 5-3 on aggregate, they drop into the Europa Conference League second qualifying round to face Rijeka on Thursday.
