UEFA’s disciplinary commission will review Pedro Neto’s conduct after he shoved a ball boy at the Parc des Princes on Wednesday night. According to L'Équipe, a disciplinary case has been opened.
The incident occurred during Chelsea’s 5-2 defeat to PSG in the Champions League last 16 first leg. Neto confronted a ball boy he felt was too slow, pushed him, and the youngster fell and was slightly hurt.
The referee did not sanction the Chelsea winger during the match. The case is expected to be handled swiftly before Tuesday’s return leg in London.
He could be suspended for that game, or receive only a fine if the panel is more lenient. After full time, Neto returned to the ball boy and handed over his shirt.
In the mixed zone, he apologised and said he had already spoken to the boy. He explained that, with Chelsea losing, he tried to retrieve the ball quickly, gave a small push, acted in the heat of the moment, and said that was not his usual behaviour.
