UJI host Valencian university finals as men’s football seal 4-2 extra time win | OneFootball

The Universitat Jaume I hosted the Comunitat Valenciana university team finals, confirming the regional champions who will represent the Comunitat at the Spanish University Championships.

According to El Periódico Mediterráneo, 20 matches took place across UJI’s sports complex and municipal sites such as the Parque Deportivo Sindical. The programme covered eight sports, with men’s and women’s events in basketball, handball, football, futsal, volleyball and rugby, plus tennis and mixed padel.

The hosts produced a notable performance on home ground.

The standout result came in men’s 11-a-side football, a repeat of last year’s final against the Universidad de Alicante. After a fiercely contested game on the UJI pitch, the Castellón side won 4-2 in extra time.

In mixed padel, which combines men’s, women’s and mixed doubles, UJI faced the Universitat de València. After three matches, UVEG edged it 2-1.

UJI’s women’s rugby sevens played a four-team final at the Sindical and kept their matches alive until the final minute. They finished fourth.
