Liam Lindsay put Preston North End ahead in the fifth minute and then marshalled both boxes, his brace anchoring a 3-2 win at Sheffield United.
The centre back rose from a corner to glance in Jordan Thompson's cross, asserting set piece dominance early on at Bramall Lane.
He doubled the lead with another header (20.), again from a corner, meeting Alfie Devine's delivery to give Preston control before the interval.
As the Blades rallied after a penalty (71.), Lindsay led the resistance in his own area. He finished with 24 clearances and nine aerial duels won, plus two attempts that both hit the target and both scored – a complete two-way display.
Because Thompson and Devine consistently delivered with accuracy from dead balls, Lindsay's timing and positioning repeatedly exposed Sheffield United's marking, turning restarts into high-value chances and keeping Preston stable under pressure.
Preston host Southampton next in the Championship. The Blades visit Derby.
