In a recent report, journalist Graeme Bailey offered an update on Chelsea and their pursuit of Real Vallecano full-back Pep Chavarria. It has been mentioned that the Blues are prepared to walk away from signing the player if the Spanish club refuses to lower their asking price for him this summer.

Chavarria’s Impressive Form In La Liga

Chavarria enjoyed a good run of form at the Spanish club as he produced a handful of impressive displays for them on the left side of their defence. The 28-year-old scored one goal and earned three assists in 44 appearances for Real Vallecano last season across multiple competitions.

The Spanish talent is currently one of the most talented left-backs in La Liga. Hence, it is no surprise that the Blues are showing interest in recruiting him this off-season.

His current contract at the Spanish club will run out in the summer of 2030, which could make it difficult for Chelsea to land him later this year.

What Should Real Madrid Boss Xabi Alonso’s Do With Regards To Chavarria?

Chavarria is a good dribbler with the ball at his feet and has got the vision to engineer a few inviting chances for his teammates in the final third. He is a solid tackler of the ball as well and can make the odd interception for his team inside his half.

The Spanish sensation doesn’t mind putting his foot through the ball when required and is an accurate passer from the left flank. Chavarria is primarily a left-back but can also serve as a left-sided wide player if asked to do so. However, there are some question marks over whether he would be able to make a smooth transition to life in the Premier League if the Blues end up signing him this summer.

Chavarria would undoubtedly improve the quality of Chelsea head coach Xabi Alonso’s defence. He is capable of fighting for a regular starting place at Stamford Bridge next season.

At 28, Chavarria is about to enter his prime, which makes him a decent choice for the Blues to pursue this summer. Hence, Alonso should focus on stepping up his efforts to land the Spaniard as he would serve as a good replacement for Marc Cucurella at the West London club.
