Vagner Love hints at ‘último capítulo’ of career | OneFootball

At 41, Vagner Love has hinted his playing career is nearing its end, posting the phrase ‘último capítulo’ on social media.

GE reports that his final match is likely to be on Saturday 28 against Ceará at the Arena de Pernambuco in the Copa do Nordeste, after which he could begin a role on Retrô-PE’s coaching staff.

Love came through Palmeiras’ academy and quickly stood out in Brazil, then built a strong reputation at CSKA before returning home. He joined Flamengo in 2010 amid high expectations.

At Flamengo he formed the Império do Amor partnership with Adriano. Across two spells he played 80 games, scored 47 goals and registered four assists. Despite his output he did not win a title with the club.

After leaving Flamengo he returned to CSKA, then played for Shandong Luneng, Monaco, Alanyaspor, Besiktas, Kairat and Midtjylland. Back in Brazil he featured for Corinthians, winning the 2015 Brazilian title and playing a decisive part in the 2019 Paulista triumph. He later represented Sport, Atlético-GO and Avaí before joining Retrô-PE.
