Valencia arrive late as Andrés García will join Getafe on loan | OneFootball

Valencia CF’s late push for Andrés García has fallen short, and the right-back will join Getafe on loan. The setback comes on the same day Thomas Meunier accepted an offer from Sunderland.

Marca reports that Getafe already had a full agreement with García and were exchanging documents, leaving Valencia’s reactivated move too late.

Valencia had parked the García operation to focus on Meunier. The Belgium international had an economic deal in place and was close to finalising, but the transfer collapsed and he chose Sunderland.

Getafe have convinced García to spend one season on loan under José Bordalás, with matches in La Liga, the Copa del Rey and European competition. The loan does not include a purchase option.

García attracted interest in recent weeks from Olympique de Lyon and Alavés, but Getafe pressed hardest over the past month. With Foulquier injured and Thierry and Renzo Saravia departed, Valencia must rely on academy options until Ron Gourlay and his team secure a reinforcement.
