Valencia CF August kick-off times set after Betis opener postponed | OneFootball

Valencia CF will start their LaLiga season at home to Celta after their matchday one meeting with Real Betis at Mestalla was postponed because of the World Cup.

According to Superdeporte, Betis sought the delay under regulations that allow it when a club has a player in the World Cup semi-finals, a condition met by Giovani Lo Celso with Argentina.

The request also suits sporting needs, giving Manuel Pellegrini extra days to ready players who missed a full pre-season, and offering Carlos Corberán the same window.

Valencia CF will host Celta at 19:30 on Saturday 22 August. The Betis game, originally scheduled for matchday one, will be played at Mestalla at 21:00 on Tuesday 25 August.

They will end the month with an away trip to Deportivo de la Coruña at 19:30 on Sunday 30 August.

With fixtures set to compress once the season begins, the focus is on building minutes and increasing intensity gradually to be fully prepared for Celta.
