Valencia clear squad space for Renzo Saravia by deregistering Foulquier | OneFootball

Valencia have freed a squad place by deregistering Dimitri Foulquier, opening the door for Renzo Saravia, and are awaiting the 32-year-old’s decision.

According to AS, Foulquier no longer appears on LaLiga’s website and Valencia’s offer covers only until 30 June. The Argentine full-back wants a longer deal amid other options.

Under long-term injury rules, Valencia have 20 calendar days from the Medical Commission’s approval of Foulquier’s status to register a replacement, so the countdown has started. The club can also use 30% of Foulquier’s salary for Financial Fair Play if needed.

Saravia is the free-agent right-back preferred by Ron Gourlay, Lisandro Isei and Carlos Corberán, with few alternatives after January closed. He left Atlético Minero on one January after three seasons and 129 games, his last on seven December.

Capped nine times by Argentina in 2019, he has proposals from Qatar, where the window is also closed, and interest from Brazil, whose market shuts on three March.

Talks have run since Foulquier chose surgery. Valencia plan a short-term agreement with a later review, mindful that Foulquier has one more year and Thierry’s contract is up amid renewal discussions.

Saravia wants the remainder of this season plus at least one more, initially two, and must decide soon because Valencia do not appear minded to shift. Thierry’s Levante injury was an oedema and he is expected to face Villarreal, while Unai impressed.
