Valencia remain focused on landing Guido Rodríguez for 26/27, and optimism currently outweighs pessimism, according to Superdeporte.
The club want him as the cornerstone of the new project. CEO of football Ron Gourlay and head coach Carlos Corberán view the Argentine as ideal to lead the midfield thanks to his authority, experience and knowledge of the dressing room and LaLiga.
Despite the wait and the challenge of attracting a player of his level, the feeling at Mestalla is that the deal is on the right track. Valencia keep making their economic case and are promoting an ambitious, Europe-chasing plan around him, a message relayed to his agents in early April. The club remain confident of strengthening further with more than two months of the window left.
On Monday, Guido reposted a photo in Valencia kit at Mestalla with his daughter to mark Father’s Day. Whether the move happens or not, the club still appears a happy reference point for his family.
Planning for 26/27 already includes moves for Justin de Haas, Aliou Dieng and Ryunosuke Sato, the latter close pending signature and official announcement. Valencia also value the continuity of Stole Dimitrievski and see Javi Guerra as a difference-maker.
Next steps are adding goals, fixing right-back and, crucially, securing Guido’s continuity. Last summer’s missteps at holding midfielder and striker hurt the first half, and a repeat cannot be allowed if Europe is the aim.
