Valencia rule out Guido Rodríguez, switch attention to Aliou Dieng | OneFootball

Valencia have effectively abandoned a move for Guido Rodríguez unless there is a radical late twist, and are now focusing on Aliou Dieng. According to Superdeporte, talks with West Ham have reached differences the club views as insurmountable.

Valencia cannot meet West Ham’s conditions, with gaps that were serious on Tuesday becoming impossible to bridge as the hours passed. It is a setback, as the 31-year-old matched the brief with Spanish league know-how and the promise of immediate impact, something Carlos Corberán has sought since early planning.

Attention has turned to Dieng, the Malian midfielder at Al Ahly of Egypt. Both the player and the club are open to a deal, but Valencia must meet Al Ahly’s financial demands.

Dieng’s contract expires in June. He remains the best placed option ahead of other targets, both discreet and public, that Valencia have explored.
