Valencia have offered condolences to Real Madrid following the death of club legend José Emilio Santamaría at the age of 96, sending sympathies to his family and friends.
In a club statement, Real Madrid called the former defender one of its greatest legends and extended sympathies to his wife Nora, his children Nelson, Nora, Beatriz, José, Silvia and Javier, and his wider family, while president Florentino Pérez hailed him as one of the club’s great symbols alongside Di Stéfano, Puskas, Gento and Kopa.
