Valencia have Meunier at the top of their right-back list as the summer rebuild gathers pace. According to AS, the club see the Belgian as the standout option and have sounded out his conditions.
A month after the season ended, Valencia have closed deals for Dieng and De Haas, though neither has been announced yet, and are close to adding the Japanese Sato.
Thierry Correia is nearing the exit as his contract expires on 30 June and he is close to Venezia. Dimitri Foulquier remains sidelined with a knee injury without a return date. Renzo Saravia did not convince Carlos Corberán during his spell at Mestalla and is not in the plans.
Meunier is at the World Cup with Belgium and has started both games so far. He played 90 minutes against Egypt, setting up Romelu Lukaku’s goal, then lasted under an hour versus Iran in a 0-0 draw as Belgium underwhelmed.
Belgium face New Zealand on Saturday for a place in the round of 32. Valencia will monitor that match and want to negotiate once the tournament ends. There have already been contacts to gauge his terms, and he views a LaLiga move positively.
Meunier turns 35 in September and spent most of his career with Club Brugge, Paris Saint-Germain and Borussia Dortmund. He is currently a free agent after last season at Lille.
