Valencia have paused decisions on David Otorbi’s next move, with Carlos Corberán keen to assess the 18-year-old in pre-season before any loan is considered. The right winger signed a new deal to June 2028 less than two months ago.
There is also interest from top-flight clubs in France and, above all, Switzerland, plus Segunda teams in Spain, notably Sporting de Gijón, who have formally expressed interest. Tribuna Deportiva reports that Basel are the most persistent suitors and proposed a loan covering full wages plus a purchase option, an idea Valencia rejected. Any exit would be a straight loan with the salary covered and no option to buy.
Otorbi burst through the academy thanks to pace and a direct one v one threat on the right. In January 2024, aged 16, he became the youngest player to debut in an official match in Valencia’s history.
Since then he has alternated youth involvement with occasional first-team exposure, a typical pathway for his age and one understood by the club and the Spain under-17 and under-18 international. With the renewal done, the next step is to secure consistent minutes above Segunda RFEF, with 2026/27 targeted as a marker of progress.
The winger market will be busy, particularly if Leeds United cannot be convinced over another loan or a modest fee for Largie Ramazani. Diego López has suffered a ruptured anterior cruciate ligament in his right knee and is not expected back until 2027, which could open a door for a profile like Otorbi.
For now the situation is on hold, and staff want to track his development closely in the opening weeks of pre-season in July. Otorbi’s ambition is to succeed at Valencia, so there is no hurry to sanction a move. If he convinces Corberán, he could claim a bigger first-team role.
