Valentin Barco announces Strasbourg exit | OneFootball

Valentin Barco has announced he is leaving Strasbourg on Monday, despite being under contract until 2029.

On 8 April, L'Équipe reported he was close to joining Chelsea, who share the same owner as Racing, BlueCo.

In a long Instagram message, the Argentine midfielder reflected that he had joined with high hopes, enjoyed many memorable moments, and highlighted the birth of his daughter. He pledged to support the club from afar and to return with his family when possible, calling Strasbourg a special place.

Barco, 21, is an Argentina international and was shortlisted among Ligue 1's best young players at the UNFP awards.

The eighth-placed side will therefore sell him and are expected to receive a significant fee.
