Valentin Barco will miss Strasbourg’s home game with PSG on Sunday after a suspended ban was activated. The midfielder is said to be angry with the club, believing he was not warned of the risk. The suspension takes effect from Tuesday 27 January 2026.

After his red card at Lens, 0-1, on 22 November, he received a one-match ban plus another suspended. Les DNA reported that sporting coordinator Kader Mangane said he then had to avoid a card across the next 10 matches.

Against Metz, 2-1, on 18 January, Barco was booked in the 25th minute for dissent. People close to him say he was not informed and call the handling by the club, particularly Mangane, unprofessional. They described it as nonsense.

Inside La Meinau, the situation is viewed as unfortunate and avoidable, with the belief the message was relayed but likely misunderstood.

Barco shone in the 4-1 win at Lille on Sunday, but he will sit out the PSG fixture, 20:45. His absence should hinder Gary O’Neil. In the Coupe de France at Avranches, 6-0, he was replaced by Rafael Luis.
