Van Oevelen ‘close to joining’ Ipswich Town as Valencia weigh next offer | OneFootball

Valencia have suffered a second setback in days, with goalkeeping target Kayne Van Oevelen now close to Ipswich Town after Thomas Meunier chose the Premier League despite an agreement being in place.

According to Telegraaf, the young goalkeeper is on the verge of joining Ipswich Town, and Volendam could accept an offer of four million euros plus a percentage of any future sale.

Valencia were nowhere near those figures.

The club must now decide whether to lodge a new bid to persuade Volendam, as Valencia appeared to have an agreement for the goalkeeper to sign a five-year deal.

While Van Oevelen was an attractive option, the blow is not as heavy as the Meunier setback. Valencia are focusing more on recruiting a right back than a goalkeeper, and will keep scanning the market if he heads to England.
