Vangelis Pavlidis named December’s best forward before Porto v Benfica | OneFootball

Vangelis Pavlidis has been named Liga Portugal Betclic Forward of the Month for December, a boost on the day of Porto v Benfica. The Greek international has five goals and one assist in his last four matches.

According to Glorioso 1904, the Benfica striker topped the coaches’ vote with 25.23 per cent, ahead of Sporting’s Luis Suárez on 22.52 and Porto’s Samu on 20.72, in a tight race. It is his first Forward of the Month award of the 2025/26 season.

Across four league fixtures in December he scored four times, including a hat-trick in the 4-0 win at Moreirense in round 14. A week later he struck the only goal in the 1-0 victory over Famalicão, taking his league tally to 17 this season.

In all competitions for Benfica this term he has played 32 matches, logging 2,546 minutes and producing 24 goals and three assists. Those outings include 17 in the league, 10 in the Champions League, two each in the Taça de Portugal and Taça da Liga, and one in the Supertaça.

The clássico is scheduled for Wednesday, 14 January 2026, at Estádio do Dragão, kick-off 20:45. The Taça de Portugal Generali Tranquilidade quarter-final will be shown on RTP 1.
