Vasco appoint Fred Luz as new SAF CEO amid executive reshuffle | OneFootball

Vasco have appointed Fred Luz as CEO of their SAF and reshaped their executive team, with Carlos Amodeo leaving and Ricardo Abreu named COO.

The club said in a statement that Amodeo’s exit was a consensual decision with the board, adding that Luz will lead a strategic phase of institutional strengthening, while Abreu’s arrival bolsters governance and execution.

The changes were not demands in talks with new investor, the businessman Marcos Lamachia, and form part of an internal reorganisation.

Luz is a partner at Alvarez & Marsal, the firm handling Vasco’s judicial recovery, and he joins with a brief to increase club revenues.

He joined Flamengo in 2013, the first year of Eduardo Bandeira de Mello’s administration, as marketing director, becoming CEO in 2014 and remaining until May 2018.

He later worked on João Amoedo’s 2018 presidential campaign. In 2020 he ran for mayor of Rio de Janeiro, receiving just over 46,000 votes and finishing ninth.

Luz became Corinthians CEO in 2024, then moved into a consulting role a few months later. That arrangement ended in May.
