Boca are preparing for a new cycle under Rodolfo Arruabarrena, whose main target is the Copa Sudamericana, and he intends to restore Kevin Zenón to his best after criticism.

According to LaNumer12.com.ar, the incoming staff plan to back the former Unión man and, despite rumours of a possible exit, will try to coax him back to the level he has shown at the club.

Reinforcements remain a priority. Regardless of the players they hope to recover, Boca will look to strengthen their weaker areas and aim to add a goalkeeper, a right-back and a forward for the second half of the year.

For now, the squad are on leave during the global pause for the World Cup in the United States, Mexico and Canada, which begins on 11 June. Meanwhile, the board and the new staff will work together on the rebuild for Arruabarrena’s second spell.

The 50-year-old is due in Argentina this week to finalise details, sign his contract and start his duties. The aim is for him to begin before pre-season, scheduled to start on 18 June.

Arruabarrena will again lean on his trusted lieutenants, repeating the core staff from his first stint. Diego Markic returns as assistant and Gustavo Roberti as fitness coach. The pair worked with him in the UAE, Qatar, Saudi Arabia and Egypt, and they won a title with Shabab Al-Ahli in 2018/19.
