Vasco have renewed the contract of 18-year-old forward Andrey Fernandes until the end of 2030, with a €60 million release clause, equivalent to R$ 346 million at the current rate.

According to Globo.com, he is regarded as one of the club’s leading academy prospects and last year became the first player born in 2008 to appear for the senior side at 16.

In 2026 he made his Brasileirão debut in a 2-1 defeat to Mirassol on the opening weekend, with Fernando Diniz in charge.

Fernandes said he was delighted to sign, describing Vasco as a second home for him and his family, calling it an important step and pledging to keep pursuing his dreams while honouring the club and its fans.

Born in Recife, he moved to Rio de Janeiro in 2016 aged eight after an invitation to join Flamengo’s academy, staying until 13 and finishing as top scorer in four of the five tournaments he played in 2019 across futsal and football.

He joined Vasco in 2021 and has continued to stand out, finishing as the club’s under-16 top scorer in 2024 with 27 goals in all competitions and posting 15 in 21 matches for the under-20s so far in 2026.

He has represented Brazil at under-17 level, winning the South American Championship and featuring at the World Cup in Qatar.
