Vasco extend deal with rising star until 2028

Vasco da Gama has confirmed the contract renewal of left-back Riquelme Avellar, known as Avellar, until July 31, 2028. The player joined the club in 2018 at the age of 11 and has been standing out as one of the main prospects from the club's youth academy.

Versatile, Avellar stands out for his ability to play both on the side and more advanced, on the wing. In 2024, he established himself as a starter for the Under-20 team, playing a key role in the victories of the Rio Cup, Guanabara Cup, Carioca Championship and Under-20 Recopa in the category.

In the current season, the young player competed in his first São Paulo Junior Football Cup and made his debut for the professional team during the Carioca Championship, marking the beginning of a new stage in his career.

In an interview with the official website, the full-back celebrated the renewal and highlighted the pride of continuing to wear the shirt of the club where he grew up.

— Renewing with Vasco is a very important achievement for me. Since I arrived, the club has given me many opportunities to learn and evolve. Continuing to wear this shirt is an honor, and I remain motivated to work hard and repay all the trust that Vasco has placed in me — the player stated.

The General Manager of the Base, Rodrigo Dias, praised the development of the player and highlighted his versatility as a differential.

— Avellar has developed in different positions until he established himself as a left-back. He has good technique, offensive strength and dribbling resource. We hope that he continues to evolve to meet the demands of the main team — he said.
