Vasco files appeal to try to suspend SAF intervention | OneFootball

Vasco have lodged an interlocutory appeal with the Tribunal de Justiça do Rio de Janeiro, seeking to overturn the ruling that removed Pedrinho and two other board members and imposed a judicial intervention on the club’s SAF.

According to Globo.com, the club says the measure amounts to improper interference in its governance and requests the immediate suspension of the decision’s effects.

The filing argues that disputes over control and governance of the SAF are already before the FGV Arbitration Chamber, so any steps affecting the corporate structure should be decided by arbitrators rather than the ordinary courts.

Vasco also challenges the grant of urgent relief, saying the ousted administrators were not heard beforehand and that the decision relied on matters that should have been tested in an adversarial process. It further points to a report by court-appointed intervenor Samantha Mendes Longo, submitted with her resignation, which it says acknowledges an adequate management structure and undermines the rationale for intervention.

The club links the intervention to recent institutional turmoil, citing the resignation of Samantha Mendes Longo, the collective departure of Fiscal Council members Marco Schroeder, David Tavares Nunes and Carlos Antonio Rodrigues Jorge on 31, and earlier exits of José Luiz Trinta, Vice-President of Integration, and Luis Guedes, VP of Engineering and Works.

The appeal contends the measure has produced a structural paralysis of governance, the opposite of its stated aim.

The court will now consider a request for suspensive effect, which could maintain or provisionally lift the intervention. Next, 777 Carioca will be summoned to present its defence before a panel rules on the merits. In parallel, the main case continues under a new judge after a declaration of suspicion by the judge who issued the original decision.
