Raphael Rezende has confirmed contact from Vasco president Pedrinho about a potential role leading the club’s scouting and intelligence, with discussions still at an early stage.
"We talked, but nothing has moved forward yet," he told Lance!.
Rezende built a long career as a pundit with SporTV and Globo, noted for detailed tactical analysis, before switching to rivals Botafogo as head scout from 2022 to 2026.
At Botafogo he helped assemble the squad during a key period of financial and sporting restructuring, pushing data use and advanced market reading. He earned a reputation for identifying undervalued players, particularly in South America and Europe.
Vasco’s approach reflects the board’s wish to modernise its intelligence department for upcoming transfer windows, adding specialists who can blend theory with hands-on scouting in a data-led model increasingly adopted by major Brazilian clubs.
If talks progress in the coming weeks, Rezende could play a central role in reshaping the squad for the rest of the domestic calendar. His arrival would be viewed as a long-term strategic step to underpin the project and a significant milestone in his post-TV career.
