Vasco ‘make enquiry’ for Jhon Córdoba, talks cool over price | OneFootball

VDG Cast reports that Vasco da Gama made a formal enquiry to sign Krasnodar striker Jhon Córdoba as their starting number nine for 2026, following Pablo Vegetti’s move to Cerro Porteño.

Talks cooled after Krasnodar set a fee beyond Vasco’s budget. The club has not closed the door, and could revisit the move in a future window if conditions improve.

While the Colombian target remains on hold, Vasco have moved to secure Brenner. The forward arrived in Rio de Janeiro on Friday 23, and is viewed as an important alternative with a different profile.

Córdoba, 32 in the 2026 season, is a 1.88m centre forward who emerged at Envigado. He featured in La Liga with Espanyol and Granada, then made his name in the Bundesliga with Mainz 05, Cologne and Hertha Berlin.

At Krasnodar since 2021, he has been one of the Russian league’s standout forwards and has been called up by Colombia. A classic penalty-area reference with power and aerial threat, he offers a profile comparable to Vegetti, with greater explosiveness and top-league experience.
