According to Globo.com, Cuiabano and David were Vasco’s standout performers against Grêmio, each earning 7.5 in the outlet’s ratings. Léo Jardim followed with 7.0 after a composed display in goal.
Vasco struck first when Thiago Mendes diverted a Cuiabano effort after David released the left-back. David then scored the second, finishing a precise Cuiabano cross from the same flank.
Grêmio replied through Carlos Vinícius after Robert Renan was dispossessed while trying to dribble inside his own area. Late on, at 46 minutes of the second half, Jardim denied Braithwaite with a sharp save.
Thiago Mendes and Tchê Tchê rated 6.5, with Mendes driving play before tiring after the interval. Hugo Moura recovered from an early misplaced pass to shield the defence, while Johan Rojas kept possession but offered little protection as Grêmio gained ground in midfield.
On the flanks, Paulo Henrique and Puma Rodríguez found limited joy going forward, the latter wasteful with his deliveries. Andrés Gómez began the move for the opener with a midfield steal and repeatedly beat his marker, yet squandered a one-on-one with Weverton and lacked end product.
Marino Hinestroza’s decision-making faltered in the final third, often overhitting passes or carrying the ball too long. Lucas Piton arrived late for a cramping Cuiabano and was unrated, while Matheus França operated as a false nine to press.
Head coach Renato Gaúcho received 6.5 for channelling attacks down Pavón’s side, which produced both goals. The team’s strong physical edge continued, though individual defensive lapses were evident.
