Vasco reached the Copa do Brasil final on penalties, Léo Jardim the decisive figure again, with Andrés Gómez outstanding across normal time.
According to Globo.com, Jardim excelled in the shootout for the sixth time with Vasco in the Copa do Brasil, underpinning their passage.
Fluminense led when Paulo Henrique put through his own net during their best spell. Gómez tormented Samuel Xavier and was close to a spectacular strike, denied by a superb save from Fábio.
Rayan drew fine saves from Fábio with a free-kick and a header, and Thiago Silva twice thwarted him when released. Philippe Coutinho struggled, yet hit one from range, created for Rayan, then found the top corner when it mattered.
Carlos Cuesta was beaten to the ball by Everaldo for the goal. Robert Renan failed to stop a Canobbio cross in the build-up and misplaced passes as he was pulled into the playmaking.
Puma Rodríguez endured a taxing night against Canobbio, yet stood up to it and converted the clinching penalty. Victor Luis came on late and scored with composure. Vegetti was little involved and missed in the shootout.
Barros and Thiago Mendes worked hard in midfield despite errant passing. Nuno Moreira looked spent, while Hugo Moura and Matheus França arrived too late to judge. The report added Vasco were better over the semi-final and merited their place.
