Vasco set transfer priorities for July window as Renato Gaúcho seeks reinforcements | OneFootball

According to Globo.com, Vasco and Renato Gaúcho are aligning plans for the July transfer window to address squad gaps after a mixed Brasileirão start. Priority positions are being reviewed daily at São Januário.

Renato has said the squad needs help and wants three or four signings to make the team more competitive across three 2026 competitions. Speaking after the Botafogo clássico, he stressed additions must be targeted, lift quality and be accepted by coach, board and supporters.

Before Renato arrived, the board had already prioritised a midfielder who arrives into the box. They mapped the market late in the last window but found no consensus, and expect better opportunities when major international windows reopen mid-year.

The club also want a left-footed forward to play from the right and cut inside, with no clear starter found. Marino Hinestroza has struggled to adapt, while Nuno Moreira, Brenner, Rojas and Adson have been tried on the right without convincing. A central striker is also under discussion.

Staff and board believe more attacking alternatives are needed, with 18 goals in 13 Brasileirão matches. They are additionally evaluating a dominant right-sided centre-back, strong in the air, to compete with Saldivia and Cuesta.

Initial enquiries have been made, but there are no proposals or formal talks. Targets have been tracked since the last window and early checks on feasibility and costs are under way. Vasco signed six players in the first window, Rojas, Saldivia, Hinestroza, Brenner, Cuiabano and Spinelli. A pre-contract is in place for right-back Paulinho of América-MG to arrive mid-year, and the next window opens on 20 July.
