Vasco have been given the green light to pursue at least five signings, backed by an annual budget of R$100 million. ESPN reports that businessman Marcos Lamacchia has authorised the board to close deals.

The club are stepping up talks to arrest their slump in the Campeonato Brasileiro, where they sit in the relegation zone. A centre-back and forwards are the top priorities.

So far, only left-back Paulinho has been secured, signed as a market opportunity to bolster the squad.

Targets under consideration include Kevin Castaño of River Plate, now the immediate focus after Plan A stalled, and Santiago Sosa, with talks with Racing cooling over late financial demands. Nelson Deossa remains on the list, while Mehdi Taremi is viewed as the dream option to fix their goalscoring issues. Yaser Asprilla is also being monitored as an attacking creator.

The football department are attempting to unlock complex overseas talks and remain optimistic of positive outcomes.

With the definitive sale of the SAF to Lamacchia still in legal process and the transition from 777 Partners incomplete, the fresh funds are not yet immediately available. To bridge this, executives are proposing loans with fixed purchase options, allowing immediate registrations while matching future cash flow.
