Vatican team visits Bayern | OneFootball

FC Bayern welcomed a special delegation to Säbener Straße on Saturday as the Vatican’s unofficial national team visited the record champions and met Vincent Kompany and Manuel Neuer. The Vatican team, comprising staff from the Vatican museums, the Swiss Guard and the Curia used their stay in Bavaria to engage with the coaching staff and take a look behind the scenes at Bayern. Another highlight of the visit was a tour of the Allianz Arena and the FC Bayern Museum.

The Vatican team had already played a charity match in Dillingen an der Donau on Friday. Their opponents were a selection of former Bundesliga stars. As the Vatican is not a member of either FIFA or UEFA, the team does not take part in World Cup or European Championship qualifiers. Nevertheless, the team embodies a genuine passion for football and international encounters.
