A well-known Leeds United supporter, Michael ‘Little Mick’ Hewitt, has been reported missing while travelling to the World Cup, prompting an urgent family appeal.
According to yorkshireeveningpost.co.uk, Hewitt left Leeds on Saturday 20 June, travelling via Barcelona to reach Boston for England’s second group match earlier this month. His family last heard from him in the early hours of Sunday 21 June after he landed in Spain. He does not appear to have reached Boston.
Since then his phone has been out of service and he has not posted on social media. He is described as a familiar face to many Leeds followers, having followed the club home and away for years.
The family have reported him missing, raised a case with the Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office, reference 02470905, and alerted Interpol to establish whether he continued to the USA or remained in Barcelona. The UK police reference is 20260628/1183.
Anyone who has seen Hewitt since Sunday 21 June, or has had contact with him since then, is asked to inform his family or the FCDO. They have also asked people to share his photo.
West Yorkshire Police received a missing person report at 3.09pm on Sunday 28 June.
