Along with Robert Lewandowski, Andreas Christensen is one of the FC Barcelona players whose contract with the club is going to end at the end of this season. The futures of both these players is yet to be decided, and it remains to be seen whether any of them would continue at the Catalan club going into the next season.
Meanwhile, according to a report from Mundo Deportivo, the Danish defender is now looking to be increasingly likely to continue with the Blaugrana side. Although he had rejected the first offer from the club, negotiations between the two parties now seem to be going in the right direction.
If these negotiations are ultimately successful, the center-back would sign a new contract till 2028. He had other, more attractive offers on the table as well, but both he and his family prefer to stay at Barcelona, even though his new wages would be significantly lower than what he was previously earning.
After a good first season at Barcelona, Andreas Christensen has suffered quite a lot due to injuries in the last two years. This season, he was able to play only 17 matches in total, starting only 1 of them, the cup game against Guadalajara. Hopefully, he would get over these injury problems and prove himself to be a useful player for Hansi Flick if he renews his contract.
